Membership of the Gloucestershire Orchard TRUST (GOT) (registered charity) is open to all interested in Gloucestershire's orchard heritage. We also have some out of county and international members.
We especially welcome you if you care passionately about traditional orchards, their huge loss in the county/nationally and the revival we and others are making to restore the landscape with heritage varieties. By joining GOT, you will be helping us to make a difference in our outreach to all, by our answering hundreds of enquiries each year, by education, training and by our interaction with the wider orchard community. We promote not just apples, but importantly, perry pears, plums, damsons, cherries, nuts and all tree fruits. Your membership fee will help us to achieve our aims of conserving, promoting and celebrating traditional orchards in Gloucestershire, their important wildlife habitat and the cultural and historical aspects. By encouraging the use of the fruit and other orchard produce (through courses and our online orchard marketplace, for example), orchards are more likely to be retained for generations to enjoy. We particularly welcome Community Orchard groups. We have many in the county who are members and we offer a hub of information, advice leaflets and a forum for sharing what is happening on your local patch.
We have a huge range of informal expertise in the group; our committee members have experience with juice, cider & perry making, biodiversity, environmental stewardship, running fruit tree nurseries and maintaining Gloucestershire variety collections and a museum orchard. Many of our members are also complete amateurs. We welcome you if you are fortunate enough to own acres of land or own a solitary tree in your small garden, or even none.
Thank you very much for your support. We simply can not continue our high standard of outreach without our membership subscriptions. So please join us today!
